Downer evaluated his contacts in Cyprus as fruitful and repeated the UN's desire to see the Cyprus problem solved within a few months following the relaunch of negotiations in October, reports say.
Turkish Foreign Minister Davutoğlu for his part reiterated Turkey's support to a settlement in Cyprus but said that the Turkish Side is running out of patience.
"A 50-year-old problem can't remain unsolved. Turkey's expectations on the solution of the Cyprus problem correspond to that of the United Nations" Davutoğlu said.
According to diplomatic sources, Davutoğlu also made it clear that Maraş is not currently on Turkey's agenda, since the issue can only be resolved within the framework of an ultimate solution to the Cyprus problem.
