The President responding to questions in a program broadcasted by all 8 television channels in TRNC, said while in the office he would strive to reach best possible agreement on the Cyprus problem, or to overcome the barriers in front of Turkish Cypriots if a settlement can not be reached.
He said all aspects of the Cyprus problem except guarantees had been discussed adding, "An agreement can be reached in 15 days if the Greek Cypriots want an agreement."
Quoting Greek Cypriot Leader Demetris Christofias as saying "I have made the biggest compromise by accepting federal solution, there will be no more compromise on my behalf" Eroğlu said, "As a person sitting across Christofias for the last two years I can with full confidence say that he does not have the will for a settlement".
Eroglu said that, while Greek Cypriot leadership publicly made it known that they were against arbitration, any time limit and multilateral meeting, Turkish Cypriots were against an open ended process.
He added that he did not believe anybody can convince Greek Cypriot side for a solution while international community continued to impose sanctions on Turkish Cypriots.
Eroglu said Turkish Cypriots made many moves to strike an agreement, which all had been refused by the Greek Cypriots who were also antagonist on "give and take".
About the proposal by Greek Cypriot side on fenced of city of Varosha that included opening the place up in return of opening the Famagusta Port, Eroglu said having not received a written proposal yet, the proposal was not viable because Famagusta Port was already open.
