Eroglu refer to the UN Secretary General's Special Representative to Cyprus Alexander Downer's words that he would like the see Cyprus problem solved in the next 18 months.
President Eroglu also told that, Nikos Anastasiades, expected to win the second round elections in South Cyprus, seemed to be compromising. "I hope he act in the same way around the negotiating table" Eroğlu said.
At his evaluation of latest situation in Cyprus, Eroglu told that the "loose federation", which argued by potential Greek Cypriot leader Anastasiades, should firstly be "defined" and then to be negotiated.
Eroglu, replying a question, said that all the plans and proposals aiming to solve the problem in Cyprus were refused by Greek Cypriot leaders and Turkish Cypriot side who was always "a thousand steps ahead" of the Greek Cypriot side, have accepted the papers proposed by former UN Secretary Generals Butros Gali, Perez de Cuellar and Kofi Annan.
