Today a panel discussion was held in line with the celebrations.
The Ataturk Cultural Center played host to a panel discussion titled "Public Relations and Effective Communications.
An opening ceremony was held before the panel discussions took place and President Derviş Eroğlu, Prime Minister Sibel Siber, Turkish Ambassador to Lefkosa Halil Ibrahim Akça, high level police officials and military officials attended the ceremony.
Making the opening statement during the ceremony Chief of Police Ahmet Zaim said they were working hard to protect the people and harmony 24 hours a day in the country and were very pleased to do their jobs.
President Derviş Eroğlu also delivered a short speech by praising the police department for their services to the country and adding that it was one of the most important institutions in the country.
'The Cyprus Turkish police force has given great services since 1964 and the Cyprus Turkish Police have gone down in history as successfully fulfilling their duties during the 20th of July 1974 Turkish Peace Operation. Between 1955 and 1974 close to 40 police officers became martyrs. This is proof of the self sacrifices made by our people to come to where we are today,' said the President.
He concluded by saying that justice is the most important factor in progressing society and pointed to the importance of developing the police force in order for it to be able to better protect the people.
