Nicosia, 25 February 13 (T.A.K.): President Dervish Eroglu made an offer to newly elected Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Anastasiadis to meet in a near future to talk how to restart Cyprus talks.
President Dervis Eroglu congratulated Nicos Anastiasiadis as the new leader of Greek Cypriots, in a phone conversation.
In a statement about his conservation with Greek leader, President Eroglu said, he expressed his wish that Anastasiadis' election would open the way for a new and decisive process at the open ended talks.
Eroglu said, he had let Anastasiadis to know that he was ready for a meeting on how to restart negotiations that was stalled months ago.
The President also said, he told Anastasiadis that he was aware of the serious troubles facing Greek leadership, nevertheless he also expressed that such problems should not act as a hindrance in taking up the Cyprus problem which can not tolerate further protraction in a decisive way.
Dervis Eroglu stated, he explained to Greek Cypriot leader that an early resumption of talks would also send positive message to his people and the world that he possessed the necessary will. President Eroglu said that this was a historical responsibility to the future generations on both sides.
President Eroglu also said, Ansatasiadis told him that Cyprus problem was among his priorities and he was also in favour in an early social meeting on how to restart negotiations.
