The president sent a letter to Jose Manuel Barroso, the President of European Commission, asking the commission to refrain from any actions that would undermine sensitivities on the island.
The letter cites moves by the European Commission, to restrict the languages used for North Cyprus to Greek and prerequisite for Turkish Cypriot delegations traveling to EU for workshops to only use ports in the Greek Cypriot controlled South Cyprus.
"It is unfortunate for the EC General Secretariat to send a letter to all division heads and directors ordering them to use only Greek languages on sings relating to North Cyprus" said the President, underlining that mother tong of Turkish Cypriots was Turkish which was enshrined in the constitution of the Greek Cypriot Administration.
Referring to the recent traveling restriction move that caused of further disillusion Eroglu, said in the letter "I would like to bring to your attention that there is no international resolution that prevents the use of ports in North Cyprus".
"Such move is far from contributing to a efforts by both sides towards an agreement. As a leading institution of the European Union, we expect the European commission to block any moves that would undermine sensitivities on the island" he concluded.
