Eroglu said he would bring the issue up during their meeting tomorrow, the first meeting after the two leaders had met in New York with the UN Secretary General who implied that he wished to see the talks aimed at settling the Cyrus issue to be successful before the Greek Cypriot side took over the EU term presidency this summer in July.
During a meeting today with executives of Broadcasting Board Eroglu referring to tomorrow's meeting said, "We have very little time ahead of us. We try to use this time in best possible time and we shall continue express our sensitivities so Mr. Downer's report will reflect the truth."
Alexander Downer the Special Adviser to UNSG, will be presenting a progress report at the end of March to Secretary General who will decide whether to call an international meeting to finalize a draft paper or report the Security Council upon the report.
Referring to draft agreement paper leakage to the press in Southern Cyprus Eroglu said, "The agreement paper prepared by Christofias was leaked to the press. According the deal we made with Christofias and United Nations, the draft paper to be prepared by the parties on a solution was to be submitted to the representative of Secretary General here on 15 December 2011. We submitted that paper. We would have exchanged the papers when the Greek Cyprots submitted theirs. Unfortunately those papers have not yet reached us".
"We will bring up this issue tomorrow. Because when some issues which had to be kept in private due to their sensitive natures was passed upon to their political parties then leaked to the press it does concern Christofias. In consequence it removes the possibility for flexibility. In my opinion it's a move to provide an excuse not to make an agreement or to block the way of an agreement."
